Another country has made efforts to extend the ceasefire between the US and Iran and to calm both countries. Recently, the talks between the two countries in Islamabad, Pakistan failed, however, now France has started efforts to move forward with the peace talks by making a master plan of three conditions. For this, the President of France himself has taken the lead.
Macron discusses with Trump-Pejeshkian
In fact, French President Emmanuel Macron has held separate talks with US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for peace talks. Macron wants to restart the failed talks in Islamabad.
France presents 3 conditions to America-Iran
After the failure of the peace talks in Islamabad, the French President has presented a three-condition master plan to the US and Iran. The agreement plan includes โ(1) a complete ceasefire in the entire region, including Lebanon; (2) the opening of the Strait of Hormuz without any conditions or tariffs; and (3) the launch of a Franco-British-led โdefensive operationโ to provide complete security to ships passing through Hormuz.โ
Conference to be held in Paris
Macron has made it clear that the 'Islamabad talks' must be resumed immediately to prevent the dispute from escalating. There are also reports that Macron and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer are to hold a joint conference in Paris on Friday. The participation will include war-torn countries concerned about the Hormuz waterway in person and via video conference.
Ship security plan
Regarding the war dispute and the Hormuz crisis, the Macron government has officially said that European and other allied countries are ready to contribute to a 'defensive operation'. France and Britain have been working on a plan for several weeks to provide protection to oil tankers and container ships.
Iran anxious for agreement: Donald Trump's big statement
US President Donald Trump claimed on social media on Monday that Iran has contacted the US again after talks stalled in Islamabad. According to Trump, Iran is now eager to make an agreement due to economic pressure and conflict. Trump has clearly said that the US will never allow Iran to make a nuclear weapon. He will meet face to face only if Iran is ready to accept the conditions.
The ceasefire will end on April 21.
There is currently a two-week temporary ceasefire between the US and Iran, which is scheduled to end on April 21. If no agreement is reached before this period, the clouds of war could once again loom over West Asia.
Where is the matter stuck?
The nuclear program is the main focus of the dispute between the two countries. In the previous meeting, the US wanted to freeze the nuclear program for 20 years, while Iran is talking about only 5 years. In Islamabad, the two countries could not agree on each other's terms, due to which the meeting was postponed by Vance.
Why is this meeting important?
The ceasefire will be extended beyond April 21 only if France delivers a positive outcome. Otherwise, the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on oil supplies could be severe. The global community is also sitting tight on this meeting because rising oil prices and economic stability depend on this peace talk.
Russia also offers to broker an agreement between the US and Iran
Earlier on April 12, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to mediate between Iran and the United States. Putin called Iranian President Masoud Pejeshkian and made it clear that Russia was ready to help in efforts to establish peace in the entire region. Official information has been given by the Kremlin that Russia wants to resolve the dispute between the United States and Iran through dialogue and restore peace in the Middle East.
What happened in the talks held in Islamabad?
The US-Israeli war began with attacks on Iran on February 28, after which a ceasefire was announced on April 8. Pakistan then took on the role of mediator, with a series of meetings between US and Iranian delegations in Islamabad on Saturday and Sunday (11-12) to maintain the ceasefire.
A meeting was held between the delegations of both the countries in Islamabad. The talks lasted for 21 hours in the meeting held on Saturday and Sunday, however, these talks have failed. Both the countries have failed to resolve their differences. According to the report, a dispute has arisen in the meeting regarding Iran's nuclear program, due to which the fears of war starting again have increased.
